The Royal Bank of Canada, commonly known as RBC Royal Bank, is a bank offering financial services globally. It is currently the largest bank in Canada with a network of about 1,209 branches serving over 10 million customers.
The scope of services
In 1995, RBC became the first bank in Canada to offer information on the internet through their web site. Since then, the platform has greatly grown and expanded allowing account holders to access a wide variety of services from the comfort of their PCs or mobile devices.
The services available through online banking include:
- funds transfers
- account balances and updates
- paying bills
- loan and credit card repayment
- payment of recurring bills.
The biggest advantage of online banking is the ability for clients to access their account 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, as long as the they have access to internet.
How to apply
In order to enroll for online banking, the user needs to already have an account with RBC bank and have either an RBC client card or an RBC credit card. Should they lack either of these, they can enroll for online banking either at a branch or by calling 1-800-769-2520 for support.
When enrolling, the client will have a password and receive an activation code through their email account that must be used within 45 days. Once the code is entered, the customer will have full access to the online banking platform.
The bank ensures users protection by offering various security features on the platform. These include:
- sign in protection
- an activation code
- personal verification questions
- and secure banking through encryption.
Any client that has registered for online banking should also be able to access mobile banking. Through mobile banking, clients are able to:
- check account balances on the go
- use their smart phones to make payments at checkout
- and redeem RBC rewards points to be put toward their next vacation.
In order to enroll for mobile banking, the user simply need to follow the same steps required to enroll for online banking.
Once the registration is complete, the user can access mobile banking services by downloading the official app which is available on the App Store, Google Play, Blackberry World, and the Microsoft Store.
The app is free as long as the device is compatible, and comes in English and French versions. It is currently compatible with Android OS 4.4 and higher. iOS 8.0 and higher, most Blackberry phones, and Windows 8 phones.
